About Wisconsin Surplus
Wisconsin Surplus is a Madison-based online auction service that sells surplus for the State of Wisconsin and for Wisconsin counties, cities, school districts, technical colleges and University of Wisconsin campuses, plus the occasional Minnesota town. Bidding is on bid.wisconsinsurplus.com, and many sales are multi-location auctions that group lots from several sellers.
Lots close one minute apart rather than all at once, so a big sale finishes over hours. A tiered buyer's fee is added to the high bid; check the fee chart for the rate at your price. Everything sells as-is, shipping is generally not offered, and most lots are collected by appointment at the seller's location within days of the close.
Frequently asked questions
How do Wisconsin Surplus auctions close?
One lot at a time, about a minute apart, so the time an auction starts closing is not when your lot ends. Watch the lot's own end time, and remember a multi-location sale can put lots from several sellers in one catalog.
How do I pick up what I win on Wisconsin Surplus?
By appointment at the selling agency's location in Wisconsin, usually within days of the close. Shipping is generally not offered, so plan the trip or your hauler before you bid.
What sells on Wisconsin Surplus?
State fleet vehicles and highway department trucks, police cruisers, school district computers and furniture, DNR and utility equipment, and confiscated property. If a Wisconsin public body retires it, this is usually where it goes: the state runs its own platform here rather than listing on GovDeals.
Can I bid on Wisconsin Surplus from another state?
Yes, registration is free and open to anyone. The practical limit is pickup: most lots require collection by appointment at the seller's Wisconsin location within days of the auction closing, and shipping is generally not offered.
